My Google Business Profile Disappeared. What Do I Do?
If your Google Business Profile has suddenly vanished, you’re not alone. It can feel like your digital storefront just closed without warning, especially if your profile was driving calls, direction requests, or local visibility.
Most of the time, this disappearance boils down to one of two things: suspension or accidental deletion.
1. Two Common Reasons Why Your Google Business Profile Disappeared
Reason #1: Suspension
Google may suspend your business profile if it believes you’ve violated its guidelines, intentionally or not. That could mean incomplete or incorrect business info, questionable eligibility, or a false flag by someone else.
You’ll typically see a suspension notice inside your dashboard. Suspended profiles disappear from both Google Search and Maps until reinstated.
Important tip: Even changing the primary owner email can trigger a suspension. Keep that email stable and secure.
Reason #2: Accidental Deletion
This one surprises many people. You (or someone else with access) might’ve accidentally removed the listing without realizing it. We’ve seen this happen during email migrations, Workspace updates, or when someone thought they were just “cleaning up” access.
In this scenario, your listing vanishes from both your dashboard and from Google, but without a suspension notice.
2. Real-Life Examples of Mistaken Deletion
- A used car dealer lost their listing after their email provider changed the account setup, unintentionally deleting the email tied to their GBP.
 - An agency updated their Google Workspace group. Even though the email address stayed the same, Google treated it as a brand-new user, causing all listings tied to the old account to disappear.

Best practice? Keep the email linked to your listing isolated and untouched. Don’t use it for automations, don’t migrate it, just leave it be. It’s the thermostat of your online business. Don’t mess with it.
3. How to Fix a Missing Google Business Profile
If your listing has disappeared:
- Log in to your GBP dashboard and check for alerts or messages.
 - Search for your exact business name in Google Maps or Search.
 - If you still don’t see it and didn’t delete it, contact Google support or request reinstatement.

To make this process easier, you’ll need your CID number.
4. What’s a CID Number, and Why It’s Critical?
The CID (Customer ID) is a unique identifier for your Google Business Profile. Google support uses it to locate your listing, even if it’s gone from search and your dashboard.
If you’ve already made a new listing, support can sometimes transfer your reviews from the old listing to the new one, only if you have the original CID.
5. How to Find the CID Number After Your GBP Has Disappeared
If your listing is no longer live, here’s how to track down its CID:
Use Rank Tracking Tools
- Places Scout: Pull up a past geogrid ranking report, click a map pin, and select “View Keyword SERP Data.” The CID will appear.

Check Old Social Media
- Dig through past Facebook posts or tweets where the business may have shared its Google Maps link, sometimes the CID is embedded in those URLs.

Search Old Emails
- Look for past email notifications from Google (like review updates or removal notices). These often contain a dashboard link with the CID.

Check Your Website’s Map Embed
- If the listing was embedded on your site using Google Maps, the CID may still be present in the code, even if the listing no longer appears correctly.

6. Always Keep a Record of Your CID
Your CID is more than just a number, it’s your business’s anchor in Google’s local ecosystem. Set up a system to store it securely.
If you didn’t save it ahead of time, the steps above should help you retrieve it. It may take a little digging, but finding it can save you from having to start from scratch.
